OUR PHILOSOPHY

We use positive reinforcement techniques, or reward-based training to bring out the best in your dog.  This type of training relies on longstanding scientifically proven principles of applied behavioral analysis.

We will never do anything to harm, hurt, scare, intimidate or force your dog to do anything.

Oh Behave! is committed to making the most of your time and resources.  Lisa's targeted training plans are designed to train your dog effectively and efficiently.

IT STARTED WITH A CAT!

Lisa first became interested in training when she adopted Ted (pictured above), a 2-month old kitten.  Ted was a cute aggressive bundle of energy.  He bit and scratched hard and often for no apparent reason and frequently drew blood.  Conventional punishments didn't work.  Spraying Ted with water, shaking a can of pennies, or yelling at him only made his aggression worse.

Tufts University animal behaviorists suggested positive reinforcement clicker training to calm Ted down and provide him with more mental stimulation.  Using a clicker and yummy treats, Lisa soon taught Ted to sit, wave, rise on his hind legs and other tricks.  Ted could only get something that he wanted by doing a behavior that Lisa requested.  Any aggression from Ted lost him Lisa's attention.  In a couple of months Ted's aggressive outbursts dropped dramatically in frequency and severity.

Ted loves training!  He still purrs when he sees the clicker.  Thanks to Ted, Lisa discovered her love of positive reinforcement training.
